Pick between albums you know to tell us your vibe, then we'll figure out how deep your library goes — and find something great you haven't heard yet.
This tool uses a Bayesian adaptive search across five taste dimensions from Rentfrow et al.'s MUSIC model (2011). The five stable factors predict what people enjoy: Mellow (relaxing, slow, ambient vs. energetic), Unpretentious (cheerful, conventional vs. challenging), Sophisticated (complex, instrumental vs. simple), Intense (loud, aggressive, rebellious vs. gentle), and Contemporary (rhythmic, urban vs. acoustic). Each pair you choose between updates all five axes — narrowing in on your mood in about five questions.
Then we run two independent searches: one for your popularity frontier (where familiar artists become unknown), and one for your era preference (what decades you want). We recommend from the intersection: music that matches your taste, from the right era, just past what you already know. Everything runs in your browser.
